(17/08/08) Gwyneth Paltrow Supports Fur
Gwyneth Paltrow is fronting the autumn collection of fur-lined boots and bags from the Italian company Tod's – which also uses ostrich and snakeskin in its products. Photographs of the Hollywood star draped in fox fur feature in the company's latest advertising campaign. Although known as being pro-"green" and being married to strict vegetarian and Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, it is clearly evident that money is more important than compassion. But would you expect any different? Full story http://www.independent.co.uk/environment/nature/fur-flies-as-gwyneth-paltrow-offends-her-animalrights-friends-899767.html

(06/08/08) Reality of fur

(28/07/08) Pope Supports Fur!
It has been nearly a month since we have had any news or actions in this years campaign. We think it has something to do with a someone called the Pope? It was hard just walking through the city with a backpack without having the 3rd degree at times, so can you imagine a group of animal rights activists staging any sort of activity? Yeah right! And considering that His Holiness wears real Ermine fur (since his election Pope Benedict has taken to wearing a number of traditional religious garments, including a small red velvet cape with a white ermine border, which he wears in winter along with a hat the same colour) and considering he is in favour of animal experimentation, we don't believe that His Holiness sees animal cruelty as being an issue worthy of any true consideration. Don't despair. We'll be back on the streets come August. You can count on it!

(01/07/08) Fur stores still giving us the cold shoulder
It's been coming up to a month since either Vicky Mar or Verses has contacted us to discuss their stock of fur items. This blatant act of disregard and indifference in wanting to clarify whether they're involved in animal cruelty is just a confirmation of the contemptuous and ignorant attitudes of those who sell, support and wear fur. It is now time to act! Please help us - contact Vicky Mar and Verses and let them know what you think. (26/06/08) Body Art day at Wynard Park
Keeping with the theme of "Body Image", it is going to be a body art day - we'll have people covered in anti-fur and animal themed body art.

We will try to have it happen during the lunch period. Between 11 and 2pm?

(13/06/08) Is Verses clueless? (Staff at QVB store appear clueless about FUR)
We decided to pay Verses a friendly visit to determine if they knew anything about their fur items. We asked simple, but important, questions such as, “Do you know the source of your fur?”, and more importantly, “Do you know how the animals were treated in order to get their fur?”

When questioned, the staff of this QVB store were uninformed and appeared 'clueless', giving us extremely vague answers and could not tell us whether their fur was or was not cruelly obtained. This demonstrates a common theme among businesses that sell fur - a front of ignorance. It appears that the boutiques and stores that peddle fur seem just as cluelsss as those who wear it. No surprise there.

You would think that such a volatile issue - whether fur is a product of cruelty- would be of importance to the staff to have some knowledge of. This is even more important since they are the ones peddling this vile product - that of a skinned carcass of body covering.

We are waiting to hear from head management to arrange a meeting so that we can clarify these unanswered questions and to discuss if their store supports fur cruelty.

Failure to do so means that Verses is unwillingly to clarify their involvement, as we have offered them the opportunity to prove if they are not involved in animal cruelty by association.

It's been nearly a week and we have had no response from this store. But then again...would you expect any different?

(06/06/08) EndtheSuffuring nips at Vicky Mar's Heels
Over the past week we have been corresponding with Vicky Mar's PR represenative with concern to Vicky Mar's fur apparel. Vicky Mar Fashions have a number of outlets in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as being a stockist for many smaller clothing boutiques.

Vicky Mar Fashions shamelessly flaunt their range of fur apparel, ranging from full fur jackets made from rex, lynx, fox and rabbit to shawls and trims. These can be seen in full view as you walk past their boutiques.

Vicky Mar claims that the fur comes from "sheared" animals and liken it to the shearing of a sheep, and that the animal is not injured or killed at all for their fur. Our own research into this so called "fur shearing" is that it's not the same as sheep shearing at all.

Furthermore, Vicky Mar stated that:

Quote: "....most of the luxurious real fur jackets and coats at Vicky Mar, are made of sheared and knitted fur. "

We have sent a number of emails to Vicky Mar asking for any documentation or evidence to this so called "sheared" fur, as well as any information to what animals are sheared, where the animals are housed, how the animals are kept and so on. We have also asked Vicky Mar on a number of occassions to inform us to the origins of the other fur that has not been "sheared" or "knitted".

It has been a week since Vicky Mar has responded to our emails. We have sent many emails politely asking for information to the fur origin. We find that this failure to do so indicative that Vicky Mar has no true understanding nor evidence to prove that the fur that is sold in the stores, and those stores that they stock, has not come from an origin of animal cruelty.

We are still patiently awaiting for their response.
